Julie Collins

Fine Art/Printmaking

Profile

It was our lucky day when Julie visited Coastal Gallery to show us her work – we love her atmospheric land and seascapes, and her fresh, contemporary prints.

Julie moved to Milford on Sea in 2014, and is inspired by the wonderful Hampshire coastline, translating it into ‘abstractions of reality ‘ She is fascinated by the feel of the landscape and always works in series, her studio becoming a three-dimensional ‘sketchbook’ of ideas and experiments. Julie works with water- based paints, building layers of intrigue into her work, each piece taking a long time to complete.

In contrast to these evocative ‘abstractions of reality’, Julie also loves to make lively line drawings that she develops into the contemporary prints that so caught our eye.

Julie exhibits her work throughout the UK. It is regularly seen at prestigious exhibitions including the RI, the Royal Watercolour Society and the Discerning Eye exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London. She has received numerous awards for her work, and her paintings were selected by and shown in London by the distinguished art critic, Brian Sewell.

Please contact Coastal Gallery for further details about Julie’s paintings and prints, or better still – come and see them!
