Samuel has a broad background in art and design. His varied career spans TV production, advertising and, most recently, contemporary art.
Samuel now works from a studio in the New Forest. Heavily influenced by pop art, popular culture and street art, he paints large dramatic impasto portraits on canvas. Favourite subjects include icons Marilyn Monroe and Bob Dylan. The portraits are created using palette knives and brushes freely to apply thick, fluid layers of vividly coloured, often fluorescent, paint and pigments onto each canvas.
Alongside the colourful impressionist portraits, Samuel is developing a series of conceptual paintings through which he is experimenting with a more detailed photo-realist approach.
