Graphic Designer & Graffiti Artist
Steve lives and works on the Isle of Wight. He originally trained as a graphic designer and is now a very successful video and computer game designer. Alongside, Steve has indulged his life-long passion – painting exuberant, colourful and complex large-scale graffiti works inspired by his love of letter forms and hip-hop.
Recently, Steve decided to make the transition from working on huge outside wall spaces to working on canvas and paper for gallery spaces:
“With an awareness that I needed to free myself from what I knew, and train myself to look and paint in a different, more fluid and abstract way. I began to experiment by moving my hand and creating the same movements and gestures that I would normally use when painting a large piece of graffiti. Without consciously drawing any letter, or outline for a letter, I was able to create, generate and capture the same emotions and movement as in my graffiti style”.
Steve recently got in touch with Coastal Gallery , and we’re thrilled to feature three of his most recent unframed canvases and a selection of framed works on paper. Steve’s work is an exciting addition to Coastal Gallery’s collection.
