To celebrate the arrival of spring and Mother’s Day on Sunday, we’ve some wonderful vases and vessels by painter and ceramicist, Peter Arscott, to tempt you. Each piece is unique in shape, and decorated in vibrant patterns and sweeps of colour. Much of Peter’s work is inspired by his travels, and by a love of jazz. He was born in Lima, Peru, and only came to the UK when he was thirteen. He studied at Bristol University, moving to Barcelona and then London for several years where he worked as a Blue Badge Guide. Peter’s work is featured in several UK galleries, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions in London. Peter is also a co-founder and director of the Ledbury Poetry Festival. We love his work and hope you do too. Our artwork collection includes vibrant framed drawings by leading artist, Aaron Kasmin, courtesy of collaboration with Sims Reed Gallery, London. Aaron studied at the Chelsea School of Art and comes from a family of illustrious figures in the arts. His father was John Kasmin, a renowned London gallerist who first championed David Hockney at the outset of his career. Aaron’s recent work is inspired by mid-twentieth century matchbooks. He breathes new life into these throw-away ephemeral objects with bold colourful pencil drawings. We were thrilled to take delivery yesterday of Chris Whittaker’s most recent exquisite painting. We still remember seeing Chris’s artwork for the first time, and were astounded by his eye for detail and the scale at which he works. Much of Chris’s work is inspired by ‘the messy bits of nature that go unnoticed or just get stepped over’ - from windblown hawthorn bushes on Lymington sea wall to daisies growing on Chris’s lawn.
