A glimpse into my other life as we enter the last few weeks of time split between Lymington and Oxford - a wonderful farewell dinner and the unveiling of a very special portrait painted by renowned artist, Ben Sullivan. Ben is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and grew up in Lymington, continuing the link between our home by the sea and our adventures in Oxford . Coastal Gallery has featured renowned artist, Martyn Brewster’s paintings and prints for many years. It’s a privilege to exhibit his work alongside that of three other leading abstract artists, Neil Canning, Felice Hodges and Steve Powell in our two lovely galleries at Palais des Vaches. Martyn’s work belongs to the English tradition of landscape painting. Although predominantly abstract, particular shapes and forms recur in Martyn’s work, evoking boats, islands and headlands. His sense of colour, from signature blues, reds and rich oranges, to delicate ochres and pale blues, combined with sensitive mark making, evoke the Dorset coast where Martyn lives and works.
