If you’re looking for a unique statement piece for your home or workspace, look no further than these wonderfully detailed oil on canvas paintings by locally based artist, Chris Whittaker. Chris studied painting at Bournemouth College of Art, moving on to an illustrious career as creative director of a leading advertising agency in London. Returning to the south coast to ‘retire’, Chris dusted off his paints and brushes, set up a studio in his garage and ‘the rest is history’. These beautifully evocative paintings are by Coastal Gallery artist, Julie Collins. Julie lives locally and much of her work is inspired by her surroundings or by travel throughout Europe. Not only is Julie a wonderful artist, but also a prolific writer on colour and painting in watercolour. It’s been lovely to spend time at Palais des Vaches curating our Coastal Gallery artists’ work ready for the open days this weekend. Beautiful new abstract landscape paintings were delivered yesterday by Joanne Last. She is not only a wonderful artist, but also trained as a classical pianist.
