THE PIRHANA & THE BULL

All change today with the arrival of the PIRHANA by Mike Turner – this fabulous steel sculpture is now in our window awaiting Christmas. We have also featured sculpture in our other window and now have The BULL by Ingrid Sterling – complete with perspex horns ! Keep an eye on our facebook and twitter feeds for images of these to exceptional pieces. Other changes this week include a series of new limited edition photomontage prints by Claire Gill and beautiful ceramic bowls by Jackie Giron – perfect for a Christmas gift !

Christmas Gift Ideas

With Christmas shopping now in mind we thought it useful to include regular blog postings about art inspired gift ideas for Christmas. New Arrivals & Christmas Shopping

We are delighted with the latest arrivals from Ingrid Sterling – two fabulous perspex wall sculptures – you can see these featured on both our Facebook & Twitter feeds. Priced at £2500 each these will create a truly contemporary feel to you home and focal point for any room ! A new artist from France has also been introduced – Jean-Paul Checinski – JP’s work is vibrant and full of joie de vie ! Thank you to JP’s sister Francine Corbin for introducing his work to us. Our Christmas Preview & shopping days are next week – Tuesday 25th November and Friday 28th November – do pop in if you can and be inspired by all our artistic ideas for you !

Martyn Brewster & Mike Turner Visits

We welcome new work this week by Martyn Brewster and Mike Turner and thank both artists for visiting Coastal Gallery to spend time with us talking about exciting new projects and ideas. Mike has delivered ‘The Wasp’ to us which you can see images of on our Facebook page – what an impressive sculpture this is ! Do come and have a look – it will be at equally at home indoors or outside as a beautiful garden sculpture. Martyn Brewster visited today with further copies of his book – along with some really special new paintings he used as the inspiration behind some larger pieces he is working on in his studio. We will be visiting Martyn in his studio soon to select some further work for us and discuss new projects.

Stephen Powell + Gift Ideas

Great to see Stephen Powell yesterday at Coastal Gallery who arrived with tow HUGE new paintings now proudly on display in our front windows. These exceptional pieces would work really well as a pair if you were looking to create a really contemporary interior design enhanced by modern art. These two paintings represent good value at £3450 each – come and have a closer look ! Meanwhile we are bringing together further art inspired gift ideas ready for the Christmas ‘open’ days – these will include more accessories from Gohar Goddard and some fabulous Damian Hirst tote bags from Tate Modern ….expected later today.

Michael Turner Sculpture

A really great visit to Mike Turner’s studio yesterday where we discussed the new arrivals due soon to Coastal Gallery – The Hammerhead Shark and The Giant Wasp ! These two pieces are truly special and we will shortly be featuring on the Christmas newsletter – meanwhile much thought is going into the display base of the shark as it is HUGE !! Fascinating to see work in progress at Mike’s studio – a Phoenix truly rising – quite beautiful and another great commission for Mike.

New Followers

Thank you to our new followers on twitter – including Hotel du Vin in Winchester, The Mill at Gordleton and The Haven Bar & Bistro in Lymington – all great places to eat or stay. Whilst the gallery exhibits many national and international artists such as Martyn Brewster, Biddy Hodgkinson and Ingrid Sterling, we pride ourselves in showcasing work from the many artists who have big reputations and following nearer home. Jane Adam Jewellery

After much careful research we were thrilled to come across the fabulous jewellery of Jane Adam which fits the visual aesthetic and attitude of Coastal Gallery perfectly. Jane has an International reputation for her unique jewellery in dyed anodised aluminium – she studied at the Royal College of Art [ Bev remembered her and so began the trail…..! ] and has held solo exhibitions in Santa Fe, Kyoto, Tokyo amongst many other cities around the world. Jane uses the nature of the material itself to create form & texture through stressing and distortion. Have a peep on our Facebook page and you will see some of the beautiful cuffs now on display !

The Spitalfields Candle Company

We have been on the hunt for interesting room diffusers to enhance our gift selection……..so a call from Philipa of The Spitalfields Candle Company answered our prayers ! She is launching a new range at The Spirit of Christmas Fair in London at Olympia next week and we will be one of the first stockists after this show – we will let you know when these have arrived ….. Some great new followers and re-tweets on twitter last week – thank you Stanwells Boutique, Berthon Boat Company, The Haven Lymington and Culture Hampshire to name but a few !

Christmas at Coastal

We are busy thinking about ideas and dates for this event – watch this space for confirmation & updates ! Ingrid Sterling has reserved a pair of her incredible Red & Orange Light boxes for us – these will make a real impact and something truly different. With this being half term and an unexpected blast of warm air we will try and open a few more hours – but always call and we can come and show whats new !
