Molly Parkin, artist, fashion icon, poet and novelist, has lived a life as vivid and exuberant as her paintings. From scandalising The Chelsea Arts Club and re-imagining fashion in NOVA Magazine in the 1960s and 70s, to writing ten best selling novels and becoming a renowned television personality, Molly has always challenged the status quo. For the last thirty five years, she has returned to painting, her first love. The result is a series of ‘Molly’s Jewels’, the name she has given to a collection of vibrant paintings fizzing with jewel-like pinks, purples and greens. Felice was born in New York and won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London. She returned to America to study Fine Art at Cornell University and now divides her time between studios in Dorset and London. The much anticipated Anthony Lawrence retrospective exhibition, curated by his journalist daughter Sarah, is looking stunning. It was enjoyed this morning by members of the local and national press, as were the delicious coffees, pastries and cakes created by @bunniesbakebox - see the final photograph in this series :). Stewart and I are thrilled to have incorporated paintings by Caroline de Rothschild and John Ilsley, with sculptures by Geoffrey Dashwood, into our Coastal Gallery gallery spaces, and several striking pieces by Ingrid Sterling into the Anthony Lawrence show. Yesterday’s excitement was the delivery of two new sculptures by Michael Turner, including a magnificent chameleon on a driftwood base. The exhibitions open to the public tomorrow and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
