We have some interesting new arrivals from the photographer Nick Dawe – these are beautiful abstract works which intriguingly capture a coastal spirit from the marinas and shoreline around Lymington, Keyhaven and Hordle. These additions enhance our selection of photography which already includes Bev Saunders and Baxter Bradford who has also produced a fabulous series of greeting cards.
Take a look at our latest new YouTube videos which include an interview with Mark Drury from SPUD filmed at The Observatory and an interesting clip showing Mike Turner’s new sculpture ‘Cecil’ the lion being photographed on location at a spectacular home in Lymington. These new video clips are part of an exciting project which Trina Hart is working on to showcase local artists and the local art scene. Further interviews with local artists are in the pipe line so keep a look out for more!
We have just received a wonderful new series of work by New Forest artist Pete Gilbert which truly brings the forest to life – along with some more abstract seascapes – not to be missed ! Martyn Brewster has also just delivered some more of his vibrant paintings along with a series of etchings which include a new ‘garden’ series. Do come and view all these new arrivals which also includes a new delivery of Caroline de Rothschild’s beautifully fragrant soaps – especially for ‘Fancy Ladies’ – as the delightfully presented bags are labelled.
With the recent downpours and cloudy august we are busy preparing the gallery for the autumn / winter season. New arrivals last week include a large collection of paintings by renown New Forest artist Pete Gilbert – who captures the many mysteries of both unspoilt forest and The Lymington River through skilful use of pastels & watercolour to capture the immediacy of the moment. Then, using those sketches as a reference he will finish them off in the studio using oil or acrylic. Come and view these beautiful pantings, along with further arrivals from Claire Wiltsher and Chris Whittaker.
We are delighted to have attracted many new Interior Design twitter followers in August including Rosalind Wilson Design, Lucy Spencer. Amanda Hanley & VS Interiors amongst many others. Trina Hart has completed her interview with artist Chris Whittaker which is now available for viewing on the YouTube link on our web site & also on Lymington.com in the magazine section – do take a moment to look at this fascinating insight into Chris’s work. Trina Hart has started a series of artist interviews which are posted on our new YouTube link at the top of our web site. She has just completed a short clip of the artist Chris Whittaker talking about his work – do take a look at this interesting insight and watch out for more interviews from Trina ! This month has been very busy with Hampshire Open Studios where we have seen record numbers of visitors to the gallery – this has been a really engaging ‘open’ to showcase our eclectic collection of work from gallery artists and talk about their work. New arrivals have included new paintings by Chris Whittaker and Sally Winter with much more arriving in September as we commence our autumn programme. Come and visit soon !
This years Hampshire Open Studios will ‘open’ officially tomorrow 21st August and will run until Monday 31st August . We will be exhibiting a selection of artists work which is not available elsewhere so do take time to visit us at Coastal Gallery and check out new work by gallery artists including Chris Whittaker and Stephen Powell. New arrivals this month also include beautiful ceramics by Arek Nowicki and marine inspired seascapes by Sally Winter. We wish great success to all participating artists in this years Hampshire Open Studios !
This week we have received some beautiful new work by Sally Winter & the winner of our Coastal Gallery Abstract Award prize – L.S.ILLIS. These, together with a few new pieces from Pete Gilbert have kept the gallery busy with locals and holiday visitors alike. We also have a new ‘video’ on our google profile so you can take a tour of the gallery and peep inside ! Do have a look and tell us what you think……
We have recently updated our www.coastal-gallery.co.uk website and enhanced this with a new gifts selection along with many other updates and new work by our artists, sculptors and designers – do take a look ! We have also added a YouTube link through which will feature the artists interviews which Trina Hart is producing for us – the first is already available to view and features the artist Trudi Lloyd-Williams – you can see Trudi’s stunning chandeliers in both our front windows. This summer we have a wonderful collection of marine inspired art at the gallery including work by Claire Wiltsher, Claire Gill, Jennie Slater , N.R.Hills and Bev Saunders – come and visit soon for a breath of sea air !

Trina is passionate about art and has already embarked on a series of interviews with our artists – starting with Trudi Lloyd Williams – who has created the beautiful chandeliers in our windows.
