Delighted to meet Morten Watkins this morning to discuss video concepts for the Coastal Gallery PV at ArtSway for Hampshire Open Studios – we are so lucky to have been introduced [ thank you Nick Carter ! ] and really look forward to working together !
We are delighted to have been featured in the August issues of both Hampshire Life and Hampshire Society magazines – keep a look out for more features about our forthcoming exhibition at ArtSway in collaboration with Hampshire Open Studios. Ceramic Review has also featured the work of Arek Nowicki with his beautiful and querky pottery. Artist talks will be taking place daily at 11am in the education room at ArtSway during the exhibition running from 20th August – 29th August.
We are busy finalising arrangements for the Coastal Gallery ‘Open at ArtSway’ exhibition during Hampshire Open Studios. Artists are busy putting finishing touches on new works which include MARTYN BREWSTER, CHRIS WHITTAKER, JASON MILLER , GEOFFREY ROBINSON, JULIE COLLINS, STEPHEN POWELL, AREK NOWICKI and JACQUI GIRON. A sculptural installation is being presented by TRUDI LLOYD-WILLIAMS and artists talks will be taking place each day at 11am. We will be updating this blog with more details on the run up to opening on 20th august. We hope you can come !
We are busy making final arrangements for our first major exhibition taking place during Hampshire Open Studios at ArtSway- 20-29th August. This is the result of a collaboration between Hampshire Open Studios and Coastal Gallery where we will be exhibiting new work by gallery artists who do not usually participate in the open studios event. Major new works will include those by : Chris Whittaker, Geoffrey Robinson, Martyn Brewster, Jason Miller, Julie Collins, Arek Nowicki & Jackie Giron. A special sculpture installation is being presented by Trudi Lloyd-Williams together with artists talks and workshops. More details of the exhibition to follow in the ongoing blog posts !
Many of you will have already seen the images for Mike Turners new sculpture for us – The Angler Fish – which is both stunning and practical – it is also a lamp ! This beautiful piece is exclusive to Coastal Gallery and made especially for us by Michael Turner Sculpture – now on display in our window at Coastal Gallery Lymington. Joining this new arrival will be OCEANS 9 – by Carol Bruton – which has just been on exhibition at The Chelsea Flower Show and also at an exclusive exhibition in Monaco. Inspired by the oceans these stunning sculptures may be ordered in a variety of colours and are available in two sizes. With the ‘official’ arrival of summer we have plenty of bright new work to bring sunshine to your home – even on this cloudy day ! Plans are well advanced for the collaborative project at ArtSway during Hampshire Open Studio’s – artists submissions are truly exceptional and this promises to be a remarkable show. New Arrivals of late include work by Gohar Goddard, Jason Miller and Julie Collins – and by the end of next week a surprising new piece by Michael Turner Sculpture.
We have found many customers have been looking for unusual sculpture and quite agree that they can really add drama and focus to complete an interior design scheme. It is exciting news that Monaco based sculptor Carol Bruton will be exhibiting with us her ‘Oceans 9’ series following display at this years Chelsea Flower Show. We will update you as soon as this beautiful piece is available to view at the gallery. New sculpture has also arrived from Ingrid Sterling – including a stunning female torso in bronze – and of course the work of local sculptor Michael Turner. Visit soon to see what else has arrived !
How the weeks fly – and this month has been particularly busy at Coastal Gallery. New work has been received by Gohar Goddard who visited us from London – bringing with her a fabulous new ‘split torso’ bronze sculpture by Ingrid Sterling. We continue to plan ahead for our major exhibition this summer at ArtSway during Hampshire open Studio’s and have now agreed the gallery layout with all our participating artists. We are delighted with the arrival of a fabulous new stainless steel sculpture by Michael Turner – a Longfin Tuna ! Many of you are familiar with Mike’s work and the desirability of his sculptures – most of which are now ‘supersize’ ‘ and so this delightful fish is a highly collectable piece of more modest proportions – now on display in the window of Coastal Gallery and priced at £2750 – do come and see !
Easter is almost here and what better time to reflect over the long weekend and plan that special spring make-over ? We have just received some beautiful new work by Jason Miller which is bright and zesty – perfect for achieving that ‘wow’ factor. The impact achieved from changing your artwork at home cannot be over stated. Choose the coastal chic of artists Claire Wiltsher, Claire Gill and Jennie Slater or cool contemporary abstracts by Geoffrey Robinson, Martyn Brewster or Stephen Powell – you can influence the whole style of your interior design scheme by careful selection of the ‘right’ art.
